At a tender age of 99 Dorothy De Low is playing Table Tennis in the World Masters, Penshurst, NSW, Australia on 15th Oct 2009.

By the way, Dorothy has passed her driving test recently and that would allow her to drive when she is 101.

Irish National Umpires

New National Umpires
The Irish Umpires Association is pleased to announce that Terri McKeon & Brenda Munroe have qualified as National Umpire of Ireland.

Joe Hickey, the Chairperson of the Irish Table Tennis Association is with the newly qualified National Umpires.

ITTF has just published the September 09 list of Blue Badge Umpires. Only 3 umpires managed to get the blue badge status.

6 Nations Championship

The Senior 6 Nations Table tennis Championships got off to an explosive start at DCU on Friday (2nd Oct 2009) night following an Opening Ceremony led by Dublin’s Lord Mayor Emer Costello. Ireland's men couldn't have asked for a tougher start, coming up first against one of the tournament favourites Wales.

International Referee Karen Tonge, MBE, took charge of the event, assisted by Tony Martin. The countries took part in the competetion are Wales, Scotland, England, Ireland, Isle of Man and Guernsey.

ITTF announced announced that "The covering material should be used as it has been authorised by the ITTF without any physical, chemical or other treatment, changing or modifying playing properties, friction, outlook, colour, structure, surface, etc."

ITTA Sanction Scheme:

ITTA announced Sanction Schemes to be effective from 1st September 2008. Sanctions are penalties over and above ITTF rules which the ITTA will impose on players or coaches who misbehave or bring the game into disrepute.

This is the third and final phase of current ITTA development plan on umpiring. The first, Irish Table Tennis Umpires Association, already established, the second, Racket Check, is in place and effective from 1st September 08.

ITTA Racket Testing programme

ITTA announced Racket Testing programme to be effective from 1st September 2008. This is the second phase of ITTA development plan. The first, Irish Table Tennis Umpires Association, has already been established.

ITTA National Umpires Association

Following discussions between the ITTA Board of Directors and the Leinster Umpires Association a new National Umpires Association is established on 13th August, 2008. The inaugural meeting was attended by members of ITTA, Leinster Branch and, now defunct, members of Leinster Umpires Association.
