Communications:
discussions, I will stand, no, I'm not going next year The chairman asked Kiron for the Secretary's report.
Kiron read out the report.
Nickey Somers pointed out that there were some spelling mistakes.
Kiron apologized for the mistakes. Dick Cruise wanted to know who was the tutor for National Umpires examination and why he is not doing any umpiring. Joe said that Ted Bollard was the tutor and Ted was appointed by the ITTA. As regards the second part of the question, Kiron and some others had the same question and the answer is not known.

Paddy Murphy wanted to know who were the candidates for 2003-04 and 2004-05 examinations. Joe gave the names of Tom Mitchell, Vivienne Barry and Cecilia Armelin for 2003-04. They did not pass the written test. He also gave the names of Tom Mitchell, Vivienne Barry, Cecilia Armelin, Ian Erskine and Con O'Ceadaigh for 2004-05 exam. Joe said that Tom, Vivienne and Cecilia have passed the written test and waiting for 2nd and 3rd part of the examination.

Nickey Somers said that those who have failed the written test should be given a chance to sit for the 2nd and 3rd part of the examination, so that, they could have the experience. The result of all the tests (aggregate) should be taken into account before deciding if the candidates have attained the required pass mark(80%). Otherwise, it was unfair to the candidates. Terri McKeon, Kiron Choudhury, Joe Finnegan, and some others disagreed with Nickey's views.

Paddy Murphy said that he would like to know from Kiron or Joe if they would point out the mistakes when he is doing umpiring. By that way he could rectify the mistakes. Brenda Munroe mentioned that during the IWA international she made some mistakes and Kiron pointed out those mistakes to her, and, the following day she rectified them.

Kiron apologized to Dick Cruise for not forwarding his name for the National Umpires examination. According to current procedure any County Umpire who has done the required number of umpiring at Senior and Junior tournaments, are entitled to sit for the examination. The Committee, at a meeting, decided that if the County Umpire was not confident enough then he/she should not be recommended to go for the National Umpires examination. This decision was a mistake. Kiron also said that, in the future, those who have done the required quota they would be recommended for the examination. The committee will help those candidates prepare for this examination.

Joe asked Con for the treasurer's report. Con gave the report. The report shows an over- expenditure of €15.85. The report also shows that expenditure in all areas are down from the previous year. An extra expenditure of €78.00 was incurred in web site development. Joe wanted to know how this amount was spent. Kiron explained that domain (web site name) registration costs €19.95, Server (where the information is held for world web) €45.00 and the VAT at 21% is €13.63, bringing the total amount at €78.58. This amount is payable annually.

There was some discussion if the association would ask the organizers of non-Leinster events to contribute something towards the Cost of umpiring. The big events are 3 day event of IWA International, the Special Olympics and 3 day events in Cork. The overall opinion is not to ask for any contribution. The meeting decided to request the Leinster branch for financial grant of €300.00 for 2005-06 season.
