ITTA Racket Testing Programme:
(by curtesy of ITTA Table Tennis, Issue 28; publishing date: 12th
2007.
As part of the ITTA racket testing programme following guidelines have been
issued:
- The International Table Tennis Federation has advised in June 2007 that
as of 1 January 2008 for Junior Events
and as of 1 September 2008 for all
other events, a new racket testing programme and protocol, using the Enez
machine to ensure that all rackets used by players are free of volatile
compounds except water.
- The Association has purchased 4 no. Enez machines which are portable and
subject the entire racket to the test by placing it within the device.
- The Referee at ITTA events will select rackets for glue testing on a
random basis. Tests will take place within the respective court before players
knock up prior to matches.
- A racket which tests negatively, in line with the regulation, has to
stay with the umpire and will be returned to the
player just before the knock
up for the match.
- A racket which tested positively, not in line with the regulation, will
stay in possession of the player, but be replaced immediately by another
racket which will also be tested.
- A player whose racket tested positively may demand a second test with
another testing device.
- Where a racket has tested positive it can only once be replaced by a new
racket. Should the second racket test
positive the opponent will win the
match by default.
