ITTA Racket Testing Programme:
(by curtesy of ITTA Table Tennis, Issue 28; publishing date: 12th 2007.

As part of the ITTA racket testing programme following guidelines have been issued:

  1. The International Table Tennis Federation has advised in June 2007 that as of 1 January 2008 for Junior Events
and as of 1 September 2008 for all other events, a new racket testing programme and protocol, using the Enez machine
to ensure that all rackets used by players are free of volatile compounds except water.
  2. The Association has purchased 4 no. Enez machines which are portable and subject the entire racket to the test by placing it within the device.
  3. The Referee at ITTA events will select rackets for glue testing on a random basis. Tests will take place within the respective court before players knock up prior to matches.
  4. A racket which tests negatively, in line with the regulation, has to stay with the umpire and will be returned to the
player just before the knock up for the match.
  5. A racket which tested positively, not in line with the regulation, will stay in possession of the player, but be replaced immediately by another racket which will also be tested.
  6. A player whose racket tested positively may demand a second test with another testing device.
  7. Where a racket has tested positive it can only once be replaced by a new racket. Should the second racket test
positive the opponent will win the match by default.

Date: 14th Dec 2007.
