End of the Year Report - 2004/05

The Leinster Umpires Association have completed another successful year of umpiring. The association would like to thank Leinster Branch for their financial grant, without which the association would be able to continue with their work.

The association is please to report that we have had more activities in 04-05 season then the previous year. The number of umpiring days improved to 187 from 163 in 2004-05 season.

Leinster calendar Events

Umpires were provided for every events held in Leinster.

Outside Leinster Calendar Events

The association also provided 2 umpires for Stiga Ulster Open (class 2) in October 2004, 2 umpires for Munster Open in January 2005, 2 umpires for 6 Nations Junior/Cadet Championship in Ulster in April 2005, and 8 umpires on each day of the Irish Wheelchair International in Dublin from 22nd to 24th April 2005. The association has provided 9 umpires on 17th June 2005, and, 10 umpires on 18th June 2005 for the Special Olympics held in Beldoyle, Dublin. One of the association umpire has travelled to England for the School International in June 2005. Umpires were provided for the Exhibition Match given by Peter Karlsson on 5th Oct 2004 and for 2 other junior events held in Lucan, Dublin.

Umpiring Records

The number includes those who came out to help with the IWA International tournament in April 2005, and some of them will be back for the Special Olympics in June 2005. A detailed analysis (a report from the database) of all umpiring activities can be obtained, on request, from the secretary. The report is about 5 pages (A4) long. If anyone is interested to see how much work each umpire have done during the year, on various dates, please feel free to give Kiron a ring and he will supply details.

National Umpires Examination

At the end of 03-04 season, the association have had 3 County Umpires sitting for the National Umpires examination. Unfortunately, none of them were successful. At end of 2004-05 season there are 5 umpires sitting for the National Umpires examination. National Umpires examination is in 3 parts. The 1st part is a Written test, the 2nd part is Practical umpiring and 3rd part is an Interview. Candidates must pass in each part before going to next. The examination is conducted by the Tutor appointed by the ITTA.

Conclusion

Finally, the association wish to thank all for their support during the past year and look forward to working with Leinster Branch and other branches of the ITTA in the new season.
